The project
The Association of Coaching Supervisors (AOCS) had a dated website, which had a significant volume of superceded and outdated information, and was built on a brittle, old CMS. The website's content had been added over several years, without a view to the 'big picture' so leading to difficulty in accessing the right content and to significant UX issues.
AOCS came to Cowshed Works asking for us to create a transformed website, and to create a new member management system. They wanted to migrate from their current CMS platform that was struggling with performance and didn't really offer the flexibility and tools they needed to manage the membership. After consulation with AOCS we developed a refreshed design and plan for how we could modernise and improve the UX of their current website, as well as the interaction of the members and AOCS staff. New features of the site include:
- Integrated membership subscriptions via Laravel Cashier and Stripe
- An interactive Coach Supervisor search;
- Private members area of the website;
- Member management system including member account access; and
- An events system including member submissions of event.
The solution
The new website and admin panel is built on Mill, our Laravel-based in-house CMS. The new membership and profile search and management application was built as an extension to the CMS and provides members with their own profile management, article and event publishing facilities. AOCS members can log into their accounts, add news, articles or events via their member page, and submit this to AOCS for review. Once reviewed, the information is then published to the website automatically.
On top of the website and user system, AOCS wanted Cowshed Works to provide ongoing support for their website, including content updates and changes. We now work in partnership with them, with weekly contact and annual strategic update meetings.
